The Rumble Pit World Series (known as the “RPWS”) is a new-concept of Free-For-All Halo 3 league. Combining concepts from both regular FFA tournaments, with some of those from a motor-racing series; the RPWS is a new type of gaming league. While remaining similar to regular FFA leagues, in that there are regular games each week, and there will be up to 16 players battling it out at once - it gets a new twist in that each week, the map used will be different, making it into sort of a Halo World series.
League Format
The league will consist of as many players that sign up. The winner at the end of the season is s/he who accumulates the most points over the entire season. Each week, a map will be chosen to play on, and 3 different gametypes will be played.
- Gametype 1 will always be a default in-built Slayer gametype, with the only possible changes being weapon sets.
- Gametype 2 will always be a default in-built Objective gametype, again with the only possible changes being weapon sets.
- Gametype 3 will be a custom gametype, with any possible combinations of settings.
Scoring
The scoring system is also unique. In each game, players score points based on their finishing position and also based on their in-game performance. Finishing points are awarded based on the following:
| 1st | 2nd | 3rd | 4th | 5th | 6th | 7th | 8th | 9th | 10th | 11th | 12th-16th | DNQ |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 45 | 43 | 41 | 39 | 37 | 35 | 34 | 33 | 32 | 31 | 30 | 25 |
Performance points are awarded based on each player’s in-game score, with a maximum of 50 points available, which is calculated based on the score limit of the game.
Even if the winner of the gametype fails to reach the score limit, they will be awarded the full 50 points for the in-game performance, and will thus receive a total of 100 points for the game. Non-qualifiers/Non-participants do not receive performance points.
Qualifying
In the event of more than 16 players wishing to take part in the game weekend, a series of qualification matches will occur. The top 6 players in championship points of those taking part will automatically qualify. The remaining players will split into 2 groups based on seeding, and will take part in a single default Slayer gametype to determine the qualifiers. The top 5 from each game will qualify for the game weekend. Any non-qualifiers may not participate in the game weekend, unless a qualified player drops out, but will receive a “non-qualified” amount of points for each game.
Weekend Schedule
For all players who wish to compete, they must mention that they are competing by Friday evening 5pm EST.
League games will take place on Sunday evening at 2pm PST/5pm EST/10pm GMT/11pm CET (times may vary based on Daylight Savings, see that week’s game post for time details); with qualifying taking place before the league games if needed.
